Posting an ad on our site is easy.

  1. Read and acknowledge the terms in the “Before You Begin” section.
  2. Select your package – Basic, Standard or Premium
  3. Tell us about your rental
  4. Upload your photos
  5. Pay (and we will automatically make you an account!)

Getting Started

How to pay for an ad? Can I pay in person?
We accept the following credit cards: Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard and American Express. All payments must be made online through our secure transaction portal.

Where is my ad?
Once you have paid for your ad, your listing will appear under the Property Listings portion of the website to attract potential tenants. To make changes to an ad, please visit the My Dashboard section of the website, select the Current Ads or Expired Ads tabs and click edit next to the ad you wish to make changes to.

I posted my ad wrong, I need to fix something.

After you have created a listing, you will be able to view, edit & remove it from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, simply click on the My Dashboard button in the navigation bar. From here, select the Current Ads tab in the profile navigation bar and click edit next to the ad you would like to make changes to.

Please note that due to security concerns property addresses, landlord contact information and photos cannot be edited once posted. Thank you for your cooperation.

Where are replies to my ad?
Any replies to your ad will be sent to your preferred method of contact (email, phone).

How do I delete my listing now it’s rented?
To remove a listing, click on the My Dashboard button in the navigation bar. From here, select the Current Ads tab in the profile navigation bar and click on “remove ad” next to the ad you’d like to remove.

How do I unsubscribe from emails?
Scroll down to the bottom of the email and click the “unsubscribe” button. Clicking this link will automatically unsubscribe you from our mailing list and will ensure you no longer receive communication from us.

What happened to my previous account/old account? I can’t login with my account information.
Due to security reasons, all existing/accounts on macoffcampus.ca were closed during the transition to the new website. After you go to post your first ad on the new website, we will automatically create a new account for you. After you post your first ad, we will email you to confirm your new account details. 

Please note that only landlords who successfully post an ad will be able to create a new account and view existing property listings. Property listings are not available to the general public.

How do I reset my password?
If you are listing a property, please go here to reset your password.

How do I change my account details/email address?
To change your account details and email address, simply click on the My Dashboard button in the navigation bar to be taken to your account page.

My pictures aren’t uploading.

All photos for Mac Off-Campus must be under 1 MB in size each. Please note that larger photos take some time to upload to the site.

If you are having trouble uploading pictures, try the following:

  • Upload image as JPEG or PNG
  • Switch to a different browser
  • Refresh the page
  • Upload a smaller image

My ad says processing but never goes on to the payment step. What’s going on? We have noticed that some users who have uploaded large photos are experiencing this issue. We recommend reducing the size of your images using a tool like reduceimages.com and reuploading them.

Payment errors
If you receive an error message such as “Your payment can’t be processed at this time” when trying to make a purchase on the site, please ensure that:

  • Your billing and payment details have been entered correctly
  • Your credit card is not expired
  • Your browser session has not timed out

I would like a refund./My ad was deleted. Will I get a refund?
Sorry-there are no refunds. All sales are final. Even if a posting is removed, the transaction will not be refunded.

I can’t see my ad in the featured listings?
Click on My Dashboard and check under the Current Ads to ensure you have purchased a premium ad package. Keep in mind, featured listings will only appear once you have searched for a listing with your corresponding criteria. E.g. A featured listing with only 3 bedrooms will not appear when the filter criteria is set to a minimum of 4 bedrooms.

Supported browsers
For optimum compatibility, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Internet Explorer. Please note that IE10 and below are not officially supported.

Site maintenance
To keep things running smoothly, our website will perform maintenance from time to time. If you come across a “We’re down for maintenance, please check back soon” message, don’t panic! We are doing our best to ensure you have the best experience.

What do I do if I think an ad is a scam?
If you believe the ad is a scam, please flag the ad.

My ad has been flagged, what does that mean? My ad was removed, why?
Your ad may have been reported as spam or inappropriate. To see a full list of our posting violations, click here

What is Mac Off-Campus?
Mac Off-Campus is a self-service property listings website that allows property managers or landlords to promote places for rent that will be exclusively viewed by our McMaster community. We requiring potential tenants to login with their Mac ID, this means that you get access directly to the McMaster community. We work to promote this listings service to our campus community through a variety of methods. 

Why is this change happening?
Due to required security updates, we were required to complete extensive updates to our website. At the same time, we wanted to refresh our website to ensure that this service remains a valuable experience for tenants and landlords.

What are the new features?

  • Students, staff and faculty log in to the website via their existing Mac ID.
  • Increased visibility in residence communities

Who do I go to for support?
Questions and issues with Mac Off-Campus are now supported via email by our 24/7 Service Centres, which are part of McMaster Housing & Conference Services (the same department that brought you our previous listings service). How do featured listings work?
Featured listings ensure maximum exposure for your ad. Once you have purchased a featured listing, your ad will be rotated as a feature on the front page and will be placed at the top of all search results in your category.
